Supporting Don Stets

My name is Gina and I have had the pleasure of knowing Donny Stets and his beautiful wife, Pam for over 16 years. I am setting up this fundraiser to help defray costs associated with Donny's treatment for Pancreatic and Lung Cancer as well as help with the travel costs. Donny Stets worked for the Sherrif's Department for 32 years. Nearly 6 years ago, after a fall at work, he was forced to retire early because he injured his back and ended up needing 3 separate back surgeries. After recovering from the back surgeries, just a few years later, he needed a knee replacement. It took 4 surgeries to replace 1 knee as there were many setbacks, and one of his bones was also broken. Finally, in 2023 when he had finally recovered from all the previous surgeries, Donny's primary care physician noticed that Donny was losing weight very rapidly. He was sent for several medical tests and scans, and it was determined that he had Pancreatic Cancer. Donny's wife, Pam reached out to Sloane Kettering, wanting him to get the best care possible and Sloane accepted him as a patient. While having more tests run at Sloane Kettering, they discovered a mass on Donny's lung which was determined to be Lung Cancer. Sloane Kettering is coordinating with Hematology Oncology on Meade Street and Donny began an aggressive chemotherapy treatment last Monday, August 7th. He will continue chemotherapy here, as well as travel back and forth to Sloane in Manhattan and New Jersey throughout the chemo regimen. After the chemotherapy is complete, a surgeon at Sloane will go in to remove the mass that is currently wrapped around the pancreatic artery. Anyone who knows Pam and Donny knows that they are two of the kindest, most generous people you would ever know. They are the people who do things for everyone else, and never ask for themselves. They went through all of his past surgeries and never asked for any help from anyone, but they can only do so much. Everyone knows that it takes friends and family and love and prayers and support. I am asking for your donations to help defray their financial burden and if you are unable to do that, I am asking for your prayers. Donny is ready to fight and we are ready to fight with him!!!!
