On December 8, Sterling’s life changed in a way he never could have prepared for. He suffered a stroke while driving, and in that moment everything stopped. As many of you know, Sterling is a barber by trade, but more importantly, he has always tried to be a steady presence in the Mount Vernon community. His barber chair has never just been about haircuts. It has been a place for conversation, advice, encouragement, laughs, and support. He has poured into others for years, and now he finds himself in a position he never thought he would be in: needing help.
Sterling and his family have been told he will need weeks of therapy and recovery before he can even think about getting back to work. Being self-employed means no work, no income, and with medical bills already coming in, things are getting difficult fast. He also has children who rely on him, and trying to balance healing with the fear of not being able to provide for them has been overwhelming.
To the community, his clients, friends, family, and anyone who has ever sat in his chair or crossed paths with him, your support will help cover medical bills, therapy, and basic living expenses while he works towards getting his strength back. It will give him the peace of mind to focus on healing without worrying how he will keep things going at home. Any donation, no matter the amount, truly helps. Even sharing this page or keeping him in your prayers means the world to him. Thank you for standing by him during this unexpected and difficult time. Your kindness and support are giving him hope and helping him fight his way back.
