
SUPPORT FOR STEPHEN SULUMA AND FAMILY

What happened: On Wednesday, December 4, our friend, father, husband, and Pastor, Stephen Suluma unexpectedly suffered a stroke. He was rushed to the hospital where a blood clot in his brain was removed.
Current condition: Stephen is currently in the ICU where he is being monitored 24/7. Initially, he only showed slight movements in the left side of his body and was unable to move his right side or speak. However, recently he spoke his first few words since the stroke, his breathing tube has been removed, and he is beginning to obey certain commands. The doctors have told us that this is a life altering event and Stephen will need ongoing care for a substantial amount of time.
Who is Stephen Suluma? Stephen is a minister of the Word of God and passionate about reaching out to those outside the Christian faith and introducing them to Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Shingisai (a renown recording artist), got married in 1996 and have two daughters, Tashinga and Tiara. The Suluma’s are originally from Zimbabwe, moved to New Orleans where both Stephen and Shingisai graduated with Masters degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and in 2018, the Suluma family moved to Toronto to begin a new ministry and church21.org was officially launched in October of 2019.
The Needs: Financially, the Suluma’s are a one income household and with Stephen’s current condition preventing him from working for a significant period of time, there will be great financial needs. While we are blessed that the Canadian healthcare system will meet his healthcare costs, other expenses will incur. Areas that financial donations will go towards will include; groceries, bills, costs of living, etc.
In conclusion, Stephen, his family, his church family, and his friends are people of great faith. We believe and are praying that God will ultimately heal Stephen totally and completely with no long term effects. Whatever you can contribute financially at time will be greatly appreciated, but also please join us in praying Ephesians 3:20-21 over Stephen’s situation. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.
