*EMERGENT UPDATE*

I want to thank everyone who donated to our father’s fund. We appreciate it more than you know. The last 6 months have not been easy in the slightest.

There’s been a detour in his health journey. Last week he was diagnosed with diabetes and we discovered this due to a diabetic ketoacidosis episode that landed him in the ICU. A lot of our remaining funds have been allocated to this sudden change and emergent situation.

We are still in the process of getting his medicaid and social security set up in North Carolina, and therefore, need to pay out of pocket for insulin, as well as continue to pay for living expenses until he is stable there. It would be so helpful if we received some more donations in light of recent events.

In addition to seeking immediate additional funding, please share any resources, nonprofits, or ideas on how I may be able to figure out a longer-term solution to his healthcare.

Hi everyone,

Those that know my dad know him as a teacher and mentor to many. A father first. A strong, outspoken, musically gifted, bright, and compassionate human being.

We recently found out that he is suffering from stage 4 prostate cancer that has metastasized in his bones. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. He’s been in pain for a long time, and while his prognosis is not ideal, we need to start his healing journey now.

He is without hygienic housing at the moment. Once he starts treatment, he will be unable to take care of himself and unable to work. This means he will need assistance with basic needs– cooking & feeding himself, cleaning his living space, taking care of personal hygiene & health, transportation to and from chemo, and emotional support.

Our priority right now is finding him HOUSING. We are asking for donations to help pay for his basic needs. This go fund will help Alonzo and I support our dad. If you know of a room, an apartment, a place, or a program - please please contact either myself or my brother. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We need all the positive energy, love, and support we can get.
