Can you imagine the horror of finding out your child has cancer? Unimaginable.
Unfortunately, this is the news that Stella’s family received earlier this month. 17-year-old Stella had been feeling unwell for months prior to diagnosis and after blood tests at the Sechelt hospital was immediately airlifted to Vancouver. Stella has been diagnosed with Leukemia and her mom; Gilda has been told that Stella’s treatment will last up to two years.
Stella has now been moved to Vancouver Children’s hospital and Gilda has relocated to Vancouver to be by Stella’s side. This move has placed a huge financial burden on Gilda in addition to her loss of income. Gilda is a single mom who prior to this worked full time as and early childhood educator. Gilda has dedicated her life to providing care and love to hundreds of children, and now it is our communities turn to support her and Stella in their time of need. Lets pull together and show our support.
Stella is now in her second week of chemotherapy.
