My name is Kassandra, youngest daughter of Stacy Smith. Sadly, today my mother, my best friend, and my rock has passed away and lost her battle to stage four breast cancer that metastasized into her bones. We have one month to pay the funeral home and other expenses. My mother was the most outgoing, strong person I could ever imagine to have in my life. I am simply already lost without her. My only job was to take care of her. Me and my father, Ryan Smith, are at a loss of what to do. She has been battling cancer for so many years. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on 1-29-16 and went into remission on 1-12-17. A few years later, it came back. She couldn’t breathe. We brought her to the hospital, and her lungs were almost collapsed. That’s how we found out her cancer was back. Years ago, just recently, we had a week-long hospital stay and had more fluid drained off of her lungs. She had pneumonia. We had a doctor's appointment at 7:15 this morning to start her on chemo. I went to go wake her up, and I found her. I’m at a loss for words. I’m not sure what to do. I’m not sure how to be OK without my mother, but it’s one step at a time.
