On Wednesday, January 27, 2026, our hearts were forever changed by the tragic and unimaginable loss of Spring Weems. Spring was an incredible mother of five and the very heart of her family. Her life was horrifically and unexpectedly cut short in an act of violence carried out by her own son, who was struggling with severe mental illness—an illness Spring had recognized and for which she had actively sought and ensured professional treatment. This devastating reality does not define Spring’s life, but it reflects the depth of her love, advocacy, and unwavering commitment as a mother. She leaves behind her adult daughter in her 20s—who recently made Spring a proud grandmother—three teenage sons, and a newly teenage daughter. Everything Spring did was rooted in love for her children. She lived for them, protected them fiercely, and made sure they always felt safe, supported, and deeply cherished.
Spring was more than a devoted mother—she was a true friend to so many. She welcomed families into the neighborhood with warmth, kindness, and genuine care. She was the mom who made sure everyone got where they needed to be, whether it was early-morning wrestling practices or late-night school tournaments. She never missed a wrestling match for her sons or a volleyball game for her daughter, and she was always present for her oldest daughter and precious grandbaby. Her wrestling family adored her, as she poured her heart into supporting not only her own children but every child involved in the sport.
Spring was thoughtful in the smallest ways—leaving snack bags on porches because she thought of someone else’s kids while shopping, checking in on neighbors’ children while parents were at work, and offering help without ever being asked. She was deeply loved, widely respected, and known throughout the community for her generosity, compassion, and unwavering kindness.
As details surrounding this tragedy continue to unfold, it is important to remember that Spring was not just a headline or a story. In the days and months ahead, painful and horrific details may be shared through court testimony, news articles, and other public outlets. As those details emerge, we ask for compassion and humanity. Spring leaves behind children, family, and friends who are deeply mourning her loss and who must live with this unimaginable pain. Please do not be cruel or quick to judge Spring or her children—we are all human, and this tragedy does not define the love that existed in her home. Spring was an excellent mother and a powerful example of a parent who chose to be a blessing by opening her heart and her home to care for her children. She loved them, protected them, and treated them as her own—because they are her children, in every way that truly matters.
She was a beautiful soul whose life mattered immensely, and whose loss has left an unimaginable void. Her passing has impacted not only her children and family, but also friends neighbors, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her oldest daughter—now a new mother herself—has been unexpectedly thrust into the role of managing household responsibilities, funeral arrangements, and helping care for her three younger brothers and newly teenage sister, with the support of their father, Spring’s ex-husband. Together, they are navigating overwhelming grief while trying to keep their family afloat and make difficult decisions about the future.
We are asking for help to support Spring’s children during this incredibly painful time. Donations will go toward funeral expenses, immediate childcare needs, household bills, and ongoing support to provide stability for her children as they begin this new chapter without their mother. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and generosity as we come together to honor Spring’s life and support the family she loved so deeply.
Although I am a close friend of Spring’s, I have asked for permission to start this GoFundMe, and have received permission directly from her family.
We love you Always and Forever, Spring Weems!
