Support For Spike - prostate cancer expenses

Hi everyone,

My name is Hillary Delaney and my husband Mike (aka "Spike") was recently diagnosed with high-risk, metastatic prostate cancer. He has undergone several rounds of diagnostic tests and scans and is scheduled for a radical prostatectomy on December 8. The surgical biopsy revealed this to be an aggressive strain, found in all eight samples taken, but we are hopeful. Subsequent scans and tests have NOT, thankfully, revealed any additional sites of concern, but the medical bills are already in the thousands, and his surgery hasn't even happened yet.

For those who don't know us well, Mike is a skilled carpenter who specializes mainly in residential remodeling, though he can do just about anything! He is self-employed with no paid sick leave and his medical insurance is a high-deductible plan, so we will be hit pretty hard with expenses going forward.

Though he does hire helpers (depending on the job) he is the only full-time worker in his business. This means when he is unable to work, he is generating no income. He will not be able to work at his full capacity for a minimum of 4-6 weeks after his upcoming surgery. This, combined with the growing medical expenses, is a major blow to our financial stability; we are hopeful this campaign will help offset some of this and reduce our burden.

We realize it's the holidays, and are aware that the last couple of years have hit many of us pretty hard. We appreciate any support, be it a donation, a prayer, good vibes and maybe a good joke or two!!

All financial contributions will go toward Mike's medical treatment and any essential expenses I cannot cover alone while he is recuperating.
