Skylar Cutler is my two-and-a-half-year-old niece, and today our family received the devastating news that she has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). The diagnosis came after a bone marrow test, and we are still coming to terms with what this means for Skylar and for all of us who love her so much. Skylar is a bright, loving child who deserves every chance to fight and recover, and we are determined to do everything we can to support her.
My brother and his family have Medicaid, but the reality is that they were already struggling financially before this diagnosis. My brother is just starting a new job after being unemployed, and the timing could not be more difficult. While Medicaid will help with some of the medical costs, there are so many daily expenses and needs that aren’t covered—things like travel to appointments, special care items, and simply keeping up with bills while my brother gets back on his feet.
We are reaching out to our community for help. Any support, whether it’s a donation or sharing Skylar’s story, will make a real difference for her and her family. Thank you for keeping Skylar in your thoughts and for standing with us during this incredibly hard time.
