It is with heartbreaking sadness that we share the passing of Richard Joyce — a devoted father, beloved brother, cherished friend, and adored son. Richard left us far too soon, just two days before Thanksgiving, leaving behind his three children — Skylar (12), Dylan (16), and Mason (30). While Mason is an adult living on the East Coast, Richard’s two youngest children, Skylar and Dylan, are now facing their first Christmas without their dad. Richard was not only their father, but their sole guardian, and their world has been forever changed.

Richard was the kind of person who made life brighter simply by being in the room. He was kind, sweet, and endlessly caring. With a jovial spirit and a natural gift for humor, he had a way of making anyone laugh, no matter the circumstance. To our family, he was not only a son, brother, and father, but truly one of our best friends — and undeniably, our mother’s closest companion. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of safety to all of us. Richard worked hard throughout his life and had a remarkable talent for fixing just about anything. He loved to ride Harleys, play guitar, and sing, and he was excellent at all of them. But above all else, he loved his children. They were his purpose, his pride, and his greatest joy. Everything he did was for them.

As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we are creating this GoFundMe to support Richard’s children — to provide stability, meet their immediate needs, and ensure they are cared for during this difficult transition. No child should have to face the holidays without their parent, and we want to do everything possible to honor Richard by supporting the family he loved so fiercely.
