YOU GUYS!!!
I cannot even begin to thank each and every one of you for reaching out and supporting Skinny. Whether it was a donation, a "Like," or a "Share" we are all so grateful. Alex has given me some updates so I want to keep everyone informed with what's going on with him. He was diagnosed with Chrons Disease. He still needs surgery to remove his appendix and the dead section of his intestine.
That can't take place until the swelling in his intestine has gone down. So he is sort of at a stand still until his body and meds are able to get that under control. In the mean time he is on strong antibiotics and steroids. This Thursday he will have a CT scan and blood work done to determine if his body is ready for surgery. They are hoping that he will be fit for surgery in a week. Followed by two weeks recovery and a colostomy bag. I hope that answers some questions for you all! Most importantly he is cancer FREE!! The road ahead will be long but clearly Skinny and Alex have a wonderful support system and we can't wait to see a happy and healthy Skinny!
Hello All!
During the last 15+ years Skinny has been bartending and serving the Northern Virginia community. Over the last 4 months his health has rapidly deteriorated. He had stomach issues, lost significant weight, and had constant trouble sleeping. After some diet changes he was feeling better and had gained some weight back.
That all ended this weekend. He experienced a black out at work on Wednesday and fell. Skinny was then admitted to the ICU at Stone Springs over the weekend. He has an appendicitis that requires surgery. Unfortunately, during this time he was also diagnosed as anemic. Due to his anemia they were unable to operate and remove his appendix because he physically did not have enough blood in his body. After hours of blood transfusions they were able to get his hemoglobin count up to an 8.8 (apparently 11 is normal). During this time he had a few different tests come back that revealed a mass located close to his appendix. From my understanding, Stone Springs has referred him to either Fair Oaks or Reston hospital because they have a better radiology department. He will be admitted again tomorrow for further medical care and hopefully surgery if his body can handle it.
So we are asking for donations to help with Skinny's medical costs, like many service industry professionals he does not have health insurance. If and when he can have surgery it will likely cost him tens of thousands of dollars on top of the ICU bills he will already have to pay. Any little bit helps! If you can't afford to dontate hit the share button and help out a great friend and hard worker!
