This past weekend, my best friend's mom was hospitalized for immobility. While there, the doctor's discovered several spinal related diseases, including stenosis, disc herniation and degenerative disc disease. She had a minimally invasive procedure in March 2024, but it didn't work and now she needs major lumbar fusion surgery. The doctors will have to put several nails in her entire lower spine to keep the discs from moving. She's a self-employed operational risk management consultant, and single mom with three daughters. If she is unable to work, she can't pay the mortgage. Luckily, she has insurance through the NYS Health Exchange, but the coverage is basic. Without the surgery and subsequent 6 months of physical therapy, she will end up completely immobile.

I am trying to raise money to help her get through the next 4-6 months (6 weeks PT, surgery, and 3-4 months post-surgery PT). If we can raise enough, then she can focus on getting healthy and literally back on her feet, while paying her medical bills and keeping a roof over her family's head.
