My son is a loving single parent to two children with special needs. After a long and difficult divorce, he gained custody of his kids, determined to give them stability and love. Two weeks after the custody decision, he lost his job after 20 years with the same company—a devastating blow that turned his world upside down.
For the past six months, Chuck has treated his job search like a full-time job while also caring for his children. He has used up his severance, his half of the proceeds from the sale of their house, much of his half of his 401k, and has also paid his half of the remaining bills from the marriage. He struggles every week just to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. He used much of his severance to pay 9 months rent up front because, without a job, it was nearly impossible to find a landlord willing to take a chance on him. Now, with those funds gone, he’s facing mounting challenges: large overdue health insurance premiums, medical bills from ongoing care at Mayo Clinic, and a car with nearly 300,000 miles on it.
Despite all of this, my son remains positive and focused on providing for his children. I help as much as I can, but as a 77-year-old on a small income, my resources are limited. That’s why I’m reaching out for help—to give my son and grandchildren a chance to get through the next few months while he continues his job search. Your support will help cover health insurance, medical bills, rent, and basic living expenses, giving them the stability they need during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to our family and help my son get back on his feet. Thank you from my heart for any contribution.
