Asking for help is at the top of the charts on our discomfort list. But here we are. We’re writing this on our fifth year anniversary when we are totally numb and just trying to get one foot in front of the other. When hurricane Helene passed by our home in St. Petersburg (100+ miles offshore), the surge waters kept rising, including sewer water and we have lost pretty much everything. Our home is going to need significant repairs, as we’re on the brink of moving to a new home we’ve been renovating for the last 6 months and just needed to survive one more storm season. Our cars are ruined as well. We just ended our insurance so have no insurance, and just switched auto insurance 2 weeks ago which we just discovered yesterday after filing claims does not cover floods.
Fortunately, our three year-old twins are safe and we have parents to live with as our home is uninhabitable for the foreseeable future. We have never reached out like this, but we do need help right now, so anything you can contribute would be appreciated beyond measure. All funds will be used to pick up the pieces of our lives, get back to the stability of our everyday that a home and a car help provide.
And if you made it this far and aren’t able to donate, a good joke will be just as much appreciated.
Much love from Silas, Scout, Alix and Eric.
