Hi, My name is Michael Rippon, and I’m fundraising for my friend and former Fleetwood cricket club teammate Shirzai Wali.
I met Shirzai while playing cricket in the UK. From the moment you meet him, you notice his warmth and infectious smile. He’s one of the kindest, most humble, and genuine people you’ll ever come across. The type of person who gives more than he has, who brings energy and fun into every group he’s part of.
Behind this smile is a story of incredible hardship and courage though
A few years ago, Shirzai lost his father and brother to violence carried out by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Fearing for his own life, he had no choice but to flee his home. He travelled across 12 countries ( mostly on foot ) facing borders, danger, and uncertainty, before eventually making his way to the UK as an asylum seeker, hoping for safety and a chance to rebuild.
Despite everything he has been through, he has remained positive, generous, and connected to his family back in Afghanistan, supporting them however he could.
But recently, tragedy struck again.
His family home in Afghanistan was again attacked and destroyed by the Taliban. His family escaped with their lives, but they have been left with nothing.
• No home
• No belongings
• No source of income
• No secure place to stay
They are now displaced and struggling day by day to meet basic needs.
We are raising funds to help provide:
• Emergency shelter
• Food
• Clothing and essentials
• Medical assistance where needed
• Support to rebuild stability and safety
If you know Shirzai, you know that he would never ask anyone for help by himself.
So we are asking for him.
Even the smallest donation makes a difference.
And if you are unable to donate, sharing this page can help us reach more people who can.
Thank you for your support ❤️
