Hi, my name is Kimberly and I am fundraising for Sherry. For those of you who are lucky enough to know her, she truly puts the JOY in her last name (Joyes) and in the lives of everyone she meets.
Sherry is a friend, sister, mentor, and proud mother, grandmother and dog mother. Sherry had a long and successful career with London Police Service, where she supervised the Freedom of Information Unit. Sherry also was a huge contributor and long-time Chair to the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police - Freedom of Information Police Network (FOIPN).
Retiring in 2021, Sherry wasted no time and she definitely didn't slow down. She continued her work in access and privacy and took up a second job where her true passion of bargain shopping could shine.
Best of all, Sherry had the time she had always wanted to enjoy her two kids, four grandkids and her beloved dog, Diezel, at her trailer in Pine Lake. Sherry worked hard throughout her life to achieve the retirement dream. As selfless as they come, she would give you the shirt off her back and would never hesitate to help, even when it was at her own cost.
Earlier this year, Sherry received devastating news that she is battling stage 4 cancer. Even in that moment of truth, her courage and positivity rose above all else. Sherry has been referred to Princess Margaret Hospital where she will receive ongoing treatment for this very rare form of cancer. While Sherry remains hopeful that she will beat this disease, the treatment will undoubtedly cause financial strain.
Your donation can help alleviate the financial burden of uncovered medical costs, hospital parking, meals, transportation and will ease some stress and allow her to put her energy into healing.
No matter what hand she is dealt, Sherry always has the attitude to stick it out and she continues to fight with the same tenacity she's always had. She is a true warrior - some days broken, but every day she is there - standing, fighting, trying.
Sherry has given to all of us at some point - whether as a colleague, a friend, a motivator, or a shoulder to cry on. I think it's time for us to give back and show her how appreciated she is every single day.
Sherry always shows love and compassion to her friends and family despite what she is going through. Let's do the same for her.
Please help to support her through her journey. Thank you.
