UPDATE: Unfortunately things are not turning out how we would like for Sheri. The doctors have told the family that she has no brain function and once removed from the ventilator,it will only be a matter of time. Our hearts are filled with complete sadness as Sheri’s husband and children are having to make a very difficult decision. No family should have to do this. This was all so very sudden and as we know, most are never prepared for this or to have to plan a funeral. Sheri’s life insurance policy will barely cover the cost for her to have a proper funeral and hospital bills will still quickly roll in for Erik. Again, any amount of donations and prayers will be deeply appreciated during this time.
Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for prayers, support, and love for my aunt, Sheri Glad. On Thanksgiving Day, Sheri suffered a sudden and devastating medical emergency. Her husband, Erik, along with family members, had to perform CPR while waiting for paramedics, who continued lifesaving efforts on arrival. At this point, we still do not know how long she was without oxygen to her brain. Her husband, children, and grandchildren witnessed this terrifying moment — something no family should ever have to see.
The very next day, instead of celebrating her 66th birthday surrounded by family, Sheri spent it in the ICU as doctors ran test after test trying to understand what happened. So far, we know she has suffered multiple seizures, a stroke, and a heart attack. She remains intubated and completely unresponsive since Thanksgiving Day. Every day brings more tests as doctors work to determine her true diagnosis and next steps.
Sheri is a deeply faithful, God-loving woman who has always put others before herself. She loves her husband, children, and grandchildren with her whole heart. She has helped so many people in their time of need, and she has been one of my greatest supporters since my own son was murdered in 2018, something I will never forget. Sheri recently retired, and Erik works full time. With him needing to be at the hospital around the clock, bills at home will begin to pile up quickly. Hospital expenses will be overwhelming. With Christmas approaching, we know this season will be especially hard as Erik will be out of work.
With so much gratitude, any help you can give to relieve even a small part of the financial burden. Every donation no matter the size is a blessing and will allow the family to focus on Sheri’s care instead of the growing stress of bills. Our family knows how hard times are right now for everyone, and we appreciate every prayer, every share, and every act of kindness. God will see her through this!
