September of 2021 was when Shay was first hospitalized with a collapsed lung which led to her finding out she had stage 4 Synovial Sarcoma; an extremely rare soft tissue cancer. Since then, she has gone through surgery, intense chemotherapy, and radiation. At 34 years old, she has gone through so much more than any person her age should have to. She is raising her teenage daughter Taya and doing her best to fight this cancer.

Now that the cancer is starting to spread again, she will be starting a clinical trial at City of Hope in Southern California this month. She will be traveling weekly from the Roseville area for as long as necessary.

While the trial does reimburse for her flights and accommodations for herself, it will not pay for any travel costs for Taya to be able to travel with her from time to time. In addition, with Shay not being able to work, she is on a fixed income which basically covers the bills each month. It does not allow for any extra spending money or extra expenses for her and Taya.

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated by Shay and would help her financial stress.
