Shannon Thomas Tanner was a 19-year-old who tragically lost his life on May 18th, 2026, during his senior trip and just days after graduating high school.
This sudden loss has left his family facing a significant financial burden, as Shannon had no life insurance. Shannon was a son, brother, friend, uncle, and most importantly, a follower of Christ.
He had a passion for football, playing at Baker High School in Mobile, AL, West Marion High School in Foxworth, MS, and Columbia Academy in Columbia, MS. He also participated in track, FCA, DECA, and more. Shannon was an active member of his youth group at Pathways Church in Alabama, where he looked forward to yearly youth camps. When he moved to Columbia, he joined the youth group at The Church on Main, helping lead devotions and small groups.
Following high school, Shannon planned to join the Air Force and eventually become an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He was a light to everyone, never meeting a stranger and always willing to help others. Shannon loved chocolate milk, peanut butter waffles from Waffle House, and football. His favorite thing was sharing the Gospel, often approaching strangers to talk about the Lord and what He had done for him.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to cover Shannon's funeral expenses and help ease the financial strain on his family during this difficult time. Please pray for Shannon’s mom, Pamela Thompson, as she grieves the loss of her son. Shannon is now in heaven with his dad. Any support for this fundraiser is deeply appreciated as the family navigates this heartbreaking loss. Per Request of his Mother, please include your name on your donation that you donated so we can add you to our list and send you appreciation later on
