Shane is a loving and dedicated father of six who is an electrician and HVAC technician. He’s not a perfect man by far but he’s a good man and a great friend to anyone who knows him. He’s the friend you can always call on and will always be there for you. He has always worked hard to provide for his family, but in December, his life was dramatically changed when he suffered a serious vehicle accident that broke his back. This injury kept him out of work for three months, putting a strain on his ability to support his children. Despite the setback, Shane was determined to get back on his feet and returned to work as soon as he was able.
Tragically, just a month after returning to work from the vehicle accident, Shane was injured again on April 6. While on the job, a copper pipe went through his eye, requiring emergency surgery and 11 stitches in the eyeball in hopes of saving his vision. So far, he has not regained sight in his right eye. He also has almost no vision in the left eye already due to a severe cataract issue, which they won’t touch at this time out of a fear of total loss if they have any complications with doing the surgery. So at this time Shane can only see about 10% out of one eye, leaving him unable to work, drive, or just about anything else including provide for his family. While doctors remain hopeful that he may regain some sight with time, it’s going to be a very long, uncertain and difficult road ahead.
Although Shane's medical bills for the eye are currently covered by workman's comp, the rest of his expenses—like rent, groceries, and transportation to appointments—are piling up. As a close friend, I am reaching out to our community for help. Any donations will go directly toward supporting Shane and his children during this incredibly difficult time. Shane does not know at this time that I'm creating this fund for him - as we all know how stubbornly independent he is - but I know any support would mean the world to him. I will provide updates on his care and how funds are used as we receive them. Thank you so much for considering a donation to help Shane and his family.
