Support for Shane & Deanna, A Journey of Love, Loss, & Hope

Update from Deanna (mom): Today has been a very uplifting day. Shane was able to hold Carter for the first time, and I got to have some snuggles with Briella. Babies continue to remain strong fighting in the NICU. They are both on CPAPs but sometimes need help being reminded they need to breathe, but their care team is fantastic and we know they are in such good hands, all being overseen by the Great Physician. We were able to hear them cry (well more of a wimper, which was the best sound!), Briella loves to look around, and we got to see both of their faces today (which we may be biased but we think are the cutest)! Their brain US overall came back to what the doctor said to be overall not concerning, so we will wait for their follow up US.

Overall they are doing so well for their gestational age. We ask for continued prayers for these babies and their health to continue to improve.

We ask for continued prayers for Shane and I and our families as we lay Abigail to rest on Saturday. Grateful as always for the work that God continues to do and for everyone that has supported us this far!

A couple of days ago, my sister Deanna gave birth to three tiny, beautiful babies: Briella, Carter, and Abigail — at just under 25 weeks.

They were so small. So perfect.

Briella and Carter are fighting hard in the NICU, showing strength that’s nothing short of miraculous. They’re moving, responding, and holding on.

We’re also carrying the heartbreak of losing sweet Abigail Rachel. She didn’t get the time here we all desperately wanted her to have.

We believe she is with Jesus now, fully known and fully loved. Our hearts are broken. We wanted her here. We wanted to know her laugh, her voice, her big personality. We wanted her to grow up with her brother and sister. Now we’re trying to hold grief in one hand and gratitude in the other, it’s really, really difficult.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

We’re clinging to that. But we’re also wrestling with it. Nothing about this makes sense to us. And yet, Shane and Deanna continue to trust in God’s plan. They’re holding onto their faith through every tear, every hour spent in the NICU, and every quiet moment without Abigail.

There’s a long road ahead — medically, emotionally, financially. We want to lift some of that weight from them so they can focus on what matters most: grieving their daughter, loving their babies, and walking through this season without carrying it all alone.
