Shakira Edwards was the mother to my son, and we shared ten years together as a family. We have a beautiful 9-year-old son, and Shakira was a dedicated security guard for the Oakland Diamond Library and the Cesar Chavez Library. Even while facing hardships, she continued to work and provide for our family.

In May 2023, Shakira was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Despite her strength and determination, her health declined recently due to her illness, and she passed away. Her loss has left a deep void in our lives, especially for our son, who is now navigating life without his mother.

The funds raised through this campaign will help cover Shakira's funeral expenses and support our son as we adjust to this new reality. Her passing has caused extra tension on our monthly income, and any support you can offer will help us honor Shakira's memory and provide stability for our son during this difficult time.
