Last night, a wrong-way driver crossed the median on I-75 in Punta Gorda and struck their car head-on, taking the lives of her two young sons, ages 5 and 6, and their step-father, Jose Martinez. In a single moment, Serena’s 25 year-old sister lost her entire immediate family.

She was a devoted and loving mom, and now she is left alone to cope with the overwhelming grief and the sudden burden of funeral expenses. On top of this heartbreak, she is facing the reality of everyday needs—wondering how she will pay for food, rent, and keep the lights on while she tries to find a way forward.
