We are raising money to help support our beloved Seida, a member of our 5 Points Family and Refugee from Eritrea who has not yet received any unemployment benefits despite eligibility.
Seida is a bright light, a loving mother, and a joyous member of our 5 Points team. She has been working as a dishwasher for us for almost 2 years, and even with a significant language barrier, she EXCELS at her job and is an absolute JOY to work with.  
Given the nature of Covid, operating safely for 5 Points means no dine-in service. Like half of our staff, there simply isn't work for Seida right now, and even though she is deserving of UI benefits, she has received none. 
We have been providing assistance as we are able, but are calling on the community to keep this single mother and son safe in her apartment with basic utilities and her phone turned on!

From Seida: “I came to the United States last year, and Tucson is my new home now. I have been a dishwasher at 5 Points Market since last year, and lost my job this March due to the pandemic. I applied and was accepted for assistance through the PUA, but like many other Americans, I am still stuck with an application in progress for over 4 months. Finding a new job at this time has been very difficult. These days both my son and I are at home together doing long distance learning, him doing second grade and me learning English.”
