It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of a dedicated Police Officer and a member of Nassau County’s Bureau of Special Operations, Sean Ledwith. Sean was a loving husband and a devoted father. He served his community with honor, integrity, and selflessness, always doing it with a smile on his face. Sean was a Marine Corps veteran who served one tour in Kosovo and two combat tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2006. For his service, Sean was awarded a multitude of awards and citations, including the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal Second Award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon Second Award, and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal Second Award. Most impressively, Sean was the recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Combat Distinguishing Device).

Beyond the badge, Sean was a man who cherished his family above all else. His wife Shannon and four children, Maeve, Sean Jr., and his two twin boys, Connor and Finn, were his greatest pride, and everything he did was for them. Their lives have been forever changed by this sudden loss.
