Our Dad, Scot Freeman, was hit by a vehicle on Honoapiʻilani Highway Friday afternoon while riding his medical scooter in Lāhainā. He was medivac to Queens Medical Center in O`ahu for multiple surgeries on a broken pelvis, hip, and ribs. He is also suffering from extensive road rash and contusions head to toe.
He is an adoring father, loving husband, and dear friend to so many, and this unexpected tragedy has completely turned our world upside down.
He is awake, and ever his charming, witty self, but is still at Queens Medical, with plans to be moved to a rehab facility at O`ahu Kaiser when healed enough to be transported. The road ahead is hopeful but will be long, medical expenses, rehabilitation, plus travel and stay on O`ahu are just a few issues putting an intense strain on him and our family.
We are asking for any support and prayers during this difficult time. Every donation will go directly toward covering medical expenses, therapy, and helping our family stay afloat while Dad focuses on healing.
Any amount helps, and even if you can't give, sharing this page means the world to us. From all of Scotty and all of us, thank you for your prayers, generosity, and love.
My name is Sophia, and I am the daughter and eldest child of Scot. My middle brother Duke and I live in Ha`ikū, Maui, across the island from our dad and his wife Barbara who live in Lāhainā. Our two other brothers, Sky and Stewart, are currently living in Washington state. We, as you do, adore our dad and appreciate any and all help to get him through this difficult time. Not only was he hit by a car on Friday but he also suffers from Lewy body dementia. We have deep concerns about his mental health declining if left alone for any length of time on O`ahu during his recovery from surgery. We are asking for assistance to be able to come and care for him here until he is able to return home yet this process could be a month or more. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for any support and prayers while we navigate the next steps in his recovery and getting our dad Scot back on his feet.
