Robert Scott Venus, my husband, has always been a kind and caring person. He loves spending time with family, especially his five children and grandchildren, and used to enjoy going to auctions and St. Louis Cardinals ball games. Lately, his illness has left him too tired to do the things he loves. Scott dedicated twenty-one years of his life working in the department of corrections at a maximum security prison, showing his commitment and strength every day. Our lives changed when Scott was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Carcinoma. The outlook is difficult, and the journey has been overwhelming for both of us.
The costs of treatment, travel, and daily living have quickly added up. Scott is almost out of paid days at work, which means every trip to the doctor or chemo appointment comes with the added stress of lost wages. We are doing everything we can, but the financial burden is heavy, and we need help to keep going. Scott’s fight is our fight, and we are standing together through every challenge.
I truly want to thank each and every one of you—from our neighbors, to those who have already helped us with fundraisers, and to the anonymous donors. Your kindness and support mean the world to us as we endure this challenging time. Any help you can give will make a real difference for Scott and our family.
