Scott Smith and I have been close friends since our days working together at Starbucks back in the 1900s. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand the strength and kindness that Scott brings to every relationship, especially to his family. Recently, Scott’s world was turned upside down when his beloved wife, Meigan, passed away. Now, he faces the immense challenge of raising their 12-year-old daughter, Cordelia, as a single parent, while coping with the emotional and financial burdens that come with such a profound loss.




Scott loved Meigan so much. She changed his world, became his world, and gave him a family. His world is shattered, and he will have to navigate a new reality while trying to sort the pieces to build a new future.




Meigan was a solid portion of the foundation of our community. She was also the rock in her family. Her absence will be felt deeply by so many, it's impossible to measure the loss. She worked so hard to obtain her Doctorate in Education, and was a teacher at a grade school for deaf children. She was irreplaceable in her role, and so many families depended on her. She gave more of herself in her short life than most of us ever will. In the orbit of her own family, she was the Sun. As Cordelia's mother, she was at her best, her most structural, protective, uplifting, nurturing, and giving. Cordelia was the pinnacle of her existence. She was so accomplished, successful, and reliable. At the same time, she was creative, full of color, and funny! So funny! She was brilliant by every definition of the word.




Scott and Cordelia are now facing significant expenses, including living costs, medical bills, and memorial services.
