Support for Sayer Jones and family

Hello! I'm writing this on behalf of my dear mentor and colleague, Sayer Jones. On a recent family snowshoeing trip on Mt Hood, Sayer suffered a severe accident slipping on ice breaking his back and leaving him paralyzed from the neck down and facing a long road to recovery. The long-term prognosis for Sayer is good, but the road to recovery is long and arduous.
Please join me in rallying around Sayer and his family to support the costs of care, therapy, and home adaptations necessary to provide a comfortable and safe living environment. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference and will help to cover their medical bills and support the family's journey toward recovery.
Sayer and his family thanks you for your love, prayers, positive energies and support during this difficult time!
Sayer fell on the ice while walking at Timberline at Mt Hood on Saturday, February 4, and was transported by ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. He experienced a traumatic injury to C6 vertebra with contusion to his spinal cord. He had surgery on Sunday, February 5, to separate the vertebrae and create space for the swelling. He essentially has no movement or feeling below his shoulders, and the course and extent of his recovery are unknown at this time. He transferred on 2/15 from the hospital to an inpatient Physical Therapy rehab, where he is likely to stay between 10-21 days. There are more questions than answers at this time, as the effects of the surgery and swelling hopefully subside, but we anticipate that he will have a lengthy recovery, and hopefully will transfer to another specialty rehab after his inpatient treatment.
