A year ago, my life changed in ways I never expected when I was in a car accident that left me unable to work. My boyfriend has been doing everything he can to keep us afloat, but it’s been a real struggle. Just as I was about to return to work, I ended up in the hospital and was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I’m on medical bed rest and cannot cook or clean even. This has been incredibly hard on my teenage daughter as well, and I worry every day about how this is affecting her.
As I start cancer treatments, I won’t be able to work for the foreseeable future, and it may take months before I can qualify for disability assistance. I honestly don’t know what medical costs will come up. I have a car payment and insurance to keep up with, and my car is the most reliable vehicle we have—without it, getting to my appointments and receiving treatment would be so much harder. We’re also behind on our electric bill and are facing the threat of shutoff almost every month. I also can’t pay my phone bill, which I need for directions to appointments and to keep in contact with my doctors.
I never thought I’d be in a position to ask for help, but I truly have nowhere else to turn. The funds raised will go toward medical bills, keeping my car, covering our utilities and rent, supporting my daughter, and paying my phone bill so I can stay in touch with my doctors and get to appointments. Any support, no matter how small, would mean so much to me and my family. Thank you for reading my story and for considering helping us during this difficult time.
