Tues April 23 - Sarah is officially home at last!! She has a future date with a neuro, but for now she is snug as a bug with Avery and her fur babies. Venessa remains in hospital, confirmed fractures of her L3 and L4, so now to get her on proper pain management and discuss physio. Her healing is no doubt going to be long and painful. She remains in hospital today, we will see what comes about tomorrow.
Donations continue to trickle in, and the family are all unbelievably grateful for the outpouring of love and support. Your dollars will go a long way in gracing this family with financial respite during convalescence. Every little bit helps, so thank you all so very much!!

Current update 11:50am - from Avery:
Canassist just called and they are now flying out tomorrow morning - they said the nurse will be here at 1:30 today to do a pre flight assessment and then they leave the hospital to the airport at 10:45am tomorrow - they said St Thomas accepted them and that they will be at St Thomas hospital for 6:45pm tomorrow
Sunday April 21 - Plans are underway to bring everyone home!! Sarah and Venessa are stable enough to travel, and hopes are to have beds ready for them in St. Thomas, as recovery is still on the horizon. Avery and Everett have flights booked to fly home today.
Avery shared an update on FB yesterday:
Hi everyone,
Just an update from Costa Rica.
Air ambulance is scheduled to return Sarah and Venessa to Ontario tomorrow. My brother Everett and I have booked our flights to return tomorrow as well.
Both Sarah and Venessa are doing better everyday.
I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for all of your love and support throughout this entire hectic week.
We are all looking forward to returning to Canada and to being able to thank all of you in person.
♥️
This is such wonderful news, as everyone is anxious to be back on Canadian soil safely. We continue to ask for your support and donations as this family will be off work while managing Sarah and Venessa’s convalescence, and what that looks like for timing is anyone’s guess. Your kindness and generousity will go a long way in easing any financial concerns they may have. Our continued gratitude for all of your support.

Fri April 19 9:30am - Yesterday brought a few little glimmers. Sarah, Venessa, Avery and Everett were able to spend a little time together as a family, muchly needed after this hellacious week! Ave & Ev had Sarah on her feet for a tiny bit, she struggled to keep her eyes open but cracked a few jokes to show us she’s still the Sarah we all know and love.
Yesterday’s medical updates from Venessa:
“the thoracic surgeon came in and talked to sarah and i , the bleeding in my lung has improved and sarah i guess had some bleeding in her left lung that’s improving as well . we are still waiting on the neuro surgeon to talk to us about her head and my lumbar fracture”
“neuro just came , sarah's ct she had earlier today was for her chest i guess the brain one is tomorrow so he will check her brain one then , my mri i have some bleeding in my spine and my L3 is fractured but he said with physio he's hoping the numbness will improve in my pelvis .“
Not the worst news, definitely not the best. Avery & Everett have booked a hotel much closer to the hospital and will be playing it by ear as we hope for daily progress on Sarah and Venessa’s healing.
The dollars have been adding up, and we are energized by all the love and support given to our friends. As paramedics, Sarah and Venessa (and Avery) are always working their hardest to help complete strangers, and seeing how so many friends, family and strangers are coming together in their time of need is awe inspiring. Please continue to get the word out and encourage donations, there are going to be so many future financial hurdles for this family to tackle. “Thank you” is going to be an overused term for this entire experience, but it’s truly the most appropriate.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thurs April 18 9:30am - Venessa and Sarah had MRIs this morning, we will know better their prognosis later today. They shared an elevator today and held hands briefly. It’s not much, but it’s everything.
Please continue your prayers, sending positive vibes and sharing the GFM. There’s a long road ahead for this family.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed in some way, you have been such a blessing to Sarah, Venessa, Avery and Everett. They are beyond thankful.

Wed April 17 7:30pm - from Venessa:
“my update: i am bleeding in my chest cavity i have to see a thoracic surgeon tomorrow, i have a lumbar fracture which he said could be compressing my nerves causing the numbness . i have the rib fracture as well. my head and cervical area of the spine is fine.
i have to have an mri tomorrow and see thoracic surgeon
sarah: she is getting another mri tomorrow to see if her bleed is improving in her brain
he did not state she had any other injuries
i will hopefully know more tomorrow”
The duration of their stay is indeterminate, too many factors right now to even think about an imminent flight home. Avery and Everett are staying down there, and require lodging for who knows how long. Your donations are helping out in so many ways right now, your kindness and generosity is is so gracious. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please continue to share and support if you can. I’m channeling Sarah when I say, God bless. xo

Wed April 17 8:50am - brief update: they are being moved, finally!! Not out of the woods by any means, but they should be receiving proper care today. Venessa has been living a nightmare these past two days, please continue supporting our girls and their family by donation and prayer.
Thank you to all who have supported and shared, you are all absolute treasures.

Further update: a transfer is in the works to move them both to a private hospital. Venessa is in desperate need of proper care, we are praying the move happens soon, if Sarah is stable enough to travel. Please keep praying.

Tues April 16 Update: Sarah opened her eyes and had a few words with Everett. Venessa’s pain is getting worse and not being managed well, so focus is on getting her home to better care. Keep on with the prayers, friends, and please continue to share the GFM.

While on holiday with their family, Sarah and Venessa were in a serious accident. Venessa sustained broken ribs and a possible spinal injury, and Sarah suffered severe head trauma, brain bleed and is currently in a coma. We are setting up this Go Fund Me to financially aid in whatever way possible. They are in hospital in a foreign country and until Sarah is stable, they will remain there. We currently have limited details.
Sarah and Venessa spend their lives in service of others as paramedics in both Chatham Kent and London, let us reciprocate by helping them now, by donation and prayer. They need our love and support like never before.
Update 4:28: Sarah opened her eyes briefly and said a few words to their son, Everett, earlier. She doesn’t have recall of the accident. Venessa’s pain is progressively getting worse, and assistance has been called in to help mitigate her travel home, likely by Medevac.
