Support for Sarah and Brandon
On January 30, Sarah was on her way home from work when her car was hit twice by cars traveling 55mph in opposite directions. She has sustained serious injuries including broken ribs, a broken shoulder, a fractured pelvis, and a broken hip. Her road to healing is going to be a long one, and in the meantime, she is unable to work. Sarah and Brandon have always been diligent savers and careful budgeters, but three different Covid-related industry shutdowns in the last year had already seriously depleted their emergency funds. They were just working to rebuild those emergency funds when the accident happened.
If you’ve ever spent even five minutes in a room with Sarah, you know that being immobile for the next few months is going to be brutal for our girl. She is never not busy doing seven things at once. This is going to take a heavy emotional and mental toll on her, and the last thing she needs is to be stressed out about paying for groceries.
We also know Sarah is that person who will always, always show up for the people she loves, no matter what it takes. Speaking as her sister, this is the girl who held my hand while I got stitches as a kid, who spent hours on the phone when I was homesick at college, and who flew in on her day off to help me move during my divorce. And if you’re reading this, I’ll bet you’ve got your own stories about how Sarah has been there for you when you needed her. Sarah shows up. She’s there for us. And Sarah is so darn capable and self-sufficient that it can be tricky to find ways to repay that, but we’ve got one now.
I know everyone has been impacted by this last year and not everyone can give a lot, and that’s okay. Whatever you are able to chip in is going to make an enormous difference for Sarah and Brandon. It will mean that they can both focus on Sarah’s healing and getting themselves back on track. Thank you so much for your generosity.
