Sandy, my mom, has always been a fighter. About a month ago, she suffered a heart attack, and while she was being treated, doctors discovered something even more devastating—stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer. Despite this shocking diagnosis, Sandy remained determined to fight, never losing her spirit or hope.
Just recently, things took a turn for the worse. She began experiencing severe belly pain and nausea, which quickly escalated. We rushed her to the emergency department at Mayo in Rochester, where a CT scan revealed a bowel obstruction caused by a tumor pressing on her colon. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, and she was taken to the operating room for emergency surgery. The situation was critical—her blood pressure dropped dangerously low, her oxygen levels plummeted, and her heart rate soared. Despite the risks, Sandy insisted on fighting and going through with the surgery. The surgeons removed her entire large bowel, but she remains unconscious, and we are unsure if she will wake up.
Our family is doing everything we can to support her, but the financial burden is overwhelming. The funds raised will help cover her mortgage, utilities, mounting medical bills, food, and transportation costs. It will also allow her husband, who is a truck driver, and her son, who lives in New York, to stay by her side during this difficult time. Sandy has five grandchildren she absolutely adores, and she loves teaching them to bake—just as she taught us. We are asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference for Sandy and our family. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and for any help you can provide.
