Our mother, Sandra Mcletchie Campbell, has worked extremely hard over the years to provide for herself and her two daughters as a single mother.  Over the past 3 years, Sandra has had a number of health emergencies that have knocked her off her feet and made it impossible for her to work at times. 

 

In 2018, She had to have major surgery after contracting a life-threatening illness, after which she was forced to remain in bed for over 3 months to recover.  In 2019, the same life-threatening illness returned causing her to have yet another major surgery leading to another 3+ months of recovery.

In 2020 she was involved in a car accident that completely destroyed her car and left her with painful back injuries.  In addition to all of this, and amidst the severe impact the pandemic has had on her and people all over the world, at the end of September 2021, Sandra was dealt the most severe blow.  While exercising at home the body trimmer tool that she was using broke and hit her directly in her left eye causing severe and quite possibly, irreversible damage. This injury was so severe that her eyeball bursted open and most of the iris came out and the lens sustained over 50% damage, according to the surgeon that performed the emergency surgery. The surgeon said that there was so much blood and damage that his only option at the time was to stitch the eyeball back together. At present there is absolutely no vision in that eye and there is no guarantee that there will ever be. 

 

Sandra's generosity and selflessness has seen her taking people into her home, including friends and strangers, distributing meals and groceries to the needy and less fortunate while spreading positivity and encouragement to all those with whom she interacts.  She is truly a beacon of hope, love and positivity to her family, friends and community.

 

Every time she was knocked off her feet, she was unable to work for months at a time, praying for a speedy recovery so that she can resume working.

 

The trauma, constant pain and reality of this eye injury has been extremely difficult on her. Sandra has always been praised for being a “strong woman” able to bounce back from the many trials that life throws at her, but the last few years combined with this eye injury has devastated her and she is now in need of our help not only to support her during this time of recovery but more significantly, to assist with the financial burdens that she has and will incur due to this injury.  She is on a long road to recovery and will be requiring many procedures and medications to restore structure and hopefully vision to her damaged eye.
