Support for Samudra’s Medical Expenses

Hello! Many of you may know our beloved Samudra, which means the ocean in Sinhala. Whether you’ve learned from her cooking classes or tasted her delicious cooking or have one of her garments she makes with love, or simply had a chance to share a sweet laugh with her, you know her name is fitting. Like the ocean, Samudra is an infinite source of support, love and happiness for the local and foreigner community and her family.

She is the matriarch of her family, taking care of the home, her 2 children and her mother-in-law. She single-handedly runs her own little convenience store, cooks in her humble restaurant and runs a small accomodation while also sewing clothes, teaching foreigners to cook, and she always makes time for a chat.

Recently, Samudra found out she has breast cancer and will need to go through a lot of testing, treatments and ultimately the procedure to remove her breasts. The initial costs at this stage are 250,000 LKR ($1250 AUD; $840 USD)

This is a woman who supports everyone else and now she needs support.

Sri Lanka is still facing an economic crisis and the locals have a hard time making ends meet as it is. I know many of us are feeling the pinch of the global economy right now, but a little goes a long way here. So truly, any amount helps! And of course all money raised will go directly to her.
