Friends and Family,
As many of you know, Sammy was born with a congenital heart defect that was surgically repaired when he was six weeks old. Many of you may not know that he was born with a second congenital defect as well. At ten months old, Sammy had surgery to repair this, but it failed. The surgeon had no real plan of what to do next, and this led us to research Sammy's condition further. In our research, we discovered that one of the only specialty centers in the world that corrects this particular congenital defect is located in Texas.
In March 2025, our family traveled to Texas for the first of a two-stage surgical repair for Sammy. We had to stay in TX for almost two weeks because the surgical center wanted Sammy to receive 15 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to promote tissue healing. The surgery was a success! Sammy is home healing up so well, and we are thanking the Lord every day that He led us to just the right place and the right surgeon to help Sammy live a normal and healthy life.
For this March trip, we spent close to $10,000 out of pocket for medical, airfare, and lodging costs. As parents, we will do whatever it takes to get Sammy the care he needs, but it has been financially very difficult for us. A few friends and family members have encouraged us to start a GoFundMe so that our community knows how they can support us in this.
As we prepare now for the second and last stage surgery for Sammy in September, we humbly ask for your prayers and financial help. We have limited the amount we are hoping to raise to just the basic costs we foresee and plan to cover all of the rest of the expenses ourselves.
We truly, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking with us through this. For praying for us. For donating any amount to help offset these expenses. Thank you for coming alongside us as we pray and hope that our brave little guy will face his fourth and final surgery this September.
With love in Christ,
Jordan, Rona, Sammy, and Gabriel
