Early on December 19th, the Clackamas River rose to nearly 26 feet overnight, flooding the home of Sammie Barnes and her family. Sammie, a BHC at the Scappoose Family Medicine Clinic, recently moved with her partner, Alex, to his grandmother's home along the Clackamas River to help care for her. Their home sustained thousands of dollars of damage in the flood, and although they have insurance, it does not cover the cost of the personal belongings they lost. Over five feet of water flooded their basement, garage, and first floor of the home, and the flood has left them without heat due to a propane tank disconnection. As if this isn't bad enough, they will be spending the Christmas holiday and New Year salvaging what they can from the flood. Even a small donation goes a long way to supporting them in what will be a long project to clean up and restore the home and property.
