Samantha Fine's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Finding out a loved one has cancer is a hard pill to swallow. Now imagine that the person is a young wife, with a toddler and expecting her second child. Unimaginable, isn't it? That has become a harsh reality for the daughter of one of my best friends. Samantha grew up in Wellington, CO, went to school with my kids and is like family to me. This young, vibrant 28-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of December 2021 while six months pregnant with her second child. To top it off, she was hit with a double whammy that her breast cancer is rare and the most aggressive kind: Triple Negative breast cancer (Stage 3). AND if that wasn't enough, treatment options are limited as opposed to other hormone-fed cancers. In the last few months of her pregnancy, she endured chemo to stop the growth/spread. A time that should be joyous and exciting while waiting for the new little one to arrive was instead spent with chemo flu, hair loss, financial strain, and the fear of what the future may hold. This young, incredible mother and her amazing husband, Michael, have remained positive throughout this whole ordeal. Something that most of us would struggle to do.
On March 17th, Samantha delivered a very healthy and beautiful little girl, Holly. Dubbed their "lucky little charm," Holly has brought them much joy and hope in such trying times, and made sweet Ivy a proud big sister!
Unfortunately, the battle for Samantha is now only starting. The additional chemo, radiation, and surgeries are underway or soon will be. Michael is juggling a full-time job, taking care of the little ones and chores when Samantha is unable, and taking care of Samantha too. Due to Michael's career, this young couple lives in Grand Junction, CO, far away from family and friends. The financial and emotional strains are becoming very real.
Formula for little Holly is expensive (Samantha cannot breastfeed due to chemo, another devastating blow to the young mother). Michael has to miss work regularly to help with appointments, etc. The medical bills are piling up, and savings are depleting. They could really use some support to lessen the burden. This young couple would never ask for help, but that's why they have people like me. And like many of you.
If you have the means, please consider donating. Any small amount helps and allows Samantha and Michael to put their energy into recovery and taking care of their family. If you prefer to donate by other means, don't hesitate to contact me, and we will arrange other methods. All donations go directly to Samantha and Michael Fine.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering helping in any way possible. This young family is truly deserving of any support we can provide. ❤
