Support for Sam, Nick, and their Family

In early March, Sam, a devoted mother to Maggie, Colton, and Alora, and life partner to Nick, was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer while expecting her fourth child, baby Kyla. As her bloodwork declined, a decision was made to deliver baby Kyla via an emergency C-section in order to begin treatment for Sam. The surgery was high-risk due to Sam’s low platelet count and clotting factors, and while baby Kyla was born a tiny but beautiful 2 pounds 15 ounces on April 2nd. Sam was able to hold her for a brief moment before Kyla was transferred to the NICU.

After the delivery, complications arose, and Sam was rushed back to the operating room due to an internal bleed. The resulting lack of oxygen to her organs led to kidney and liver failure, and despite the valiant efforts of medical staff, Sam was unable to fully recover. On the evening of April 7th, it became clear that it was time to let Sam rest.

In the face of this devastating loss, the family is now navigating the immense challenges of moving forward. Kyla, though born premature, is a fighter, and as her family rallies around her, we are hoping to provide them with the support they need during this incredibly difficult time.
