Support for Saadia, Pakeeza, and Zan During End Stage Cancer

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Khushi Sharma, and I’m fundraising to support my best friend, Pakeeza, and her family during an unimaginably difficult time. The funds raised will help cover urgent medical treatment, emergency travel, and ongoing household expenses as they care for Pakeeza’s mom, Saadia, in her fight against cancer.

Pakeeza’s mom, Saadia, is a single mother who raised her two children, Pakeeza (23) and Zan (19) entirely on her own. Nine years ago, Saadia was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic ovarian cancer. This family has been fighting an uphill battle ever since.

In 2024, Saadia’s cancer returned aggressively and became resistant to treatment. The disease has now spread uncontrollably.

Doctors in Canada have told the family there are no further treatment options they can offer. All they can do is help manage Saadia’s pain and comfort in her last days.

Before cancer, Saadia was an incredibly hardworking woman. She worked as Program Director at the NICCS Daycare and as a Coordinator for Apple Blossom Day Homes in Brooks, Alberta, all while raising her two children on her own.

Throughout her illness, Pakeeza and Zan have taken on responsibilities far beyond their years. They have worked from a young age to support their mother and each other emotionally and financially, keep their household running, and cover their mortgage, bills, and daily living expenses, without outside support.

Out of humility and pride, this family has always carried the full burden on their own. Getting their permission to share this fundraiser was not easy.

As Saadia’s condition worsened, the family made the urgent decision to travel to Pakistan so she can spend her remaining time in her childhood home, surrounded by loved ones. She has no immediate family in Canada, and with no further treatment options available there, staying was no longer feasible.
The cost of last-minute international travel, combined with the sudden loss of income for Pakeeza and Zan, has created significant financial strain, while their mortgage and household bills in Canada continue to accumulate.

There is one final chemotherapy regimen available at Shifa International Hospital in Pakistan that offers a chance to extend Saadia’s life. This treatment must be paid for entirely out of pocket. Each round costs approximately $2,000, and Saadia requires five rounds, totaling $10,000.

All funds raised will help cover Saadia’s treatment, household mortgage and bills, emergency travel costs, and allow her children to remain by her side.
This represents the family’s final opportunity to pursue treatment and gain more precious time and memories together.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps ease the financial strain they are facing. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page makes a real difference.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
