In the past few days, our family’s world has been turned upside down after my niece, Ryli, was seriously injured as a pedestrian in a hit and run incident in her small community of Glenreagh, where she has been in a critical condition.

The driver has since been charged with multiple significant offences.

Many of you already know Ryli. She is a much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin and a familiar face at the Glenreagh General Store, where she is always welcoming people with warmth, kindness and her fun, caring nature.

This was an incredibly traumatic event that has impacted not only Ryli, but many in the community who witnessed it, who also need love, kindness and support.

Ryli sustained very serious injuries and remains in hospital under specialist care, where she is receiving treatment and close monitoring.

We are incredibly grateful that she is now awake, talking and making steady progress, but the reality is that she has a long road ahead of her. Her recovery will involve ongoing medical care, possible procedures, rehabilitation and time to heal both physically and emotionally.

As a family, we are taking each moment as it comes and focusing on being by her side through this.

I know how much support has already come from her community and how many people have asked how they can help. I have created this page for those who wish to support Ryli during her recovery and help ease the financial pressure during this time.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly towards her recovery, medical needs and supporting her as she works towards healing.
