I am currently in the hospital with a 5cm by 2cm mass in my throat. Over the past week, I have experienced several terrifying episodes where the mass flipped and completely blocked my airway, leaving me unable to breathe for what felt like an eternity. The first time it happened, I was driving on the highway, and a simple sip of soda triggered it. I truly thought I was going to die. It happened again later that day while I was eating dinner, and I had to act quickly to try to move the mass so I could breathe again. After these incidents, I knew I had to seek medical help immediately. The doctors have found that the mass is blocking my esophagus almost entirely, and I will need to stay in the hospital for at least another week for treatment and monitoring.
This situation has turned my life upside down. I just started a new job, but it pays only once a month, and before that, I was working as a Lyft driver, living day to day without the ability to build up any savings. My youngest son lives with me, and making sure he is okay and has enough to eat is my main focus. The stress of not being able to pay my basic bills or provide for my son while I am in the hospital is overwhelming. Our world is in a tough place right now, and I know many people are struggling.
I have never done anything like this before, but I am reaching out for help because I truly need it. Any support you can offer will go directly towards living expenses and making sure my son and I have a safe place to stay during this difficult time. I appreciate any help and support—only if you can afford it. I would never want anyone to put themselves in a bad situation for me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can share.
