Support For Ryan: Terminally Ill and Needing Aid
Donation protected
Hi all, in case you don't know me, I am Anna. I have created this GoFundMe for a close friend of mine of 20 years who is terminally ill and doesn't have long with us on this earth. Ryan is the kind of person that never much thinks of himself or his own needs, but he would stand up for those around him and give someone the shirt off his back. He has always had strong empathy for those struggling around him because he knows what it's like, coming from a difficult background. Ryan was the person that brought me back to myself when I was very lost. His acceptance, kindness, and good humour, despite very unfair circumstances, made me remember who I was when I felt entirely alone in the world many years ago. His love of animals always touched my heart as he is one of the few who always treated them like little people instead of "pets". A huge music lover, he even helped me learn to play guitar! Ryan is a soft, happy-go-lucky soul who never had a fair shake at life and is now suffering daily at only 43 years of age.
Until a couple of months ago, Ryan worked as an (underpaid) manager for 17 years and when he got his diagnosis and was no longer able to work, his employer took him off the roster but didn't fire him so he couldn't claim unemployment. He is fighting with the disability officials for help at present. He cannot afford rent, food, basic needs, or even to see the specialists he needs to see. His parents are gone and he doesn't have family that can help. Thankfully, his childhood friend has stepped up and is able to take care of him at present but he also isn't in an affluent position and while he is doing his best, there is only so much he can do.
Currently, Ryan is losing 2-3 pounds a day, has lost most of his muscle mass, his extremities are numb, and he is so weak he spends 80% of his time in bed asleep. He is in a lot of pain and can't even bend over to put his shoes on. I sent some food, new comfortable clothing items, and what I could think of and afford. I know there isn't much I can do to help him right now, especially living in another country, but I just want to get him through the next couple of months at least so he can afford proper food, rent, and medical care. He doesn't deserve to be suffering this way, no one does.
Times are hard for all of us right now so please only contribute what you can but even a small amount will make an impact as the situation is so dire. If you can't contribute monetarily, I completely understand. It would even help if you could share this fundraiser with friends and let them know that you know me personally so they understand this isn't just a random scam. That would be amazing and so much appreciated!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any aid in helping my dear friend to manage the next few months, it means the world to us <3
