Rusty Moffitt was more than just a friend to me—he and his twin brother, Austin, became like family. I first met Austin when I poached him from the Downtown Slice of Life store to the Porters Neck store, and not long after, Rusty joined our team as well. Their kindness, humor, and support quickly made them two of the most important people in my life. We shared countless memories, and I know I’m not alone in saying that both Rusty and Austin have been there for so many people during their darkest times.
Thursday evening, Rusty passed away unexpectedly. The shock and heartbreak are overwhelming for everyone who loved him, especially Austin, who not only lost his brother but also his roommate and closest companion. The family is now facing the sudden burden of funeral expenses, and Austin needs help covering rent and bills that they used to split. He will also need support as he takes time off work to grieve and begin to heal from this unimaginable loss.
I’m reaching out to our community because I know how much Rusty and Austin have given to others. Let’s come together to show them and their family how deeply they are loved and supported. Any amount you can give will help with funeral costs and provide Austin with the breathing room he needs during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
