Recently, my brother started experiencing shortness of breath, chest pain, body aches, and neck pain. He went to the emergency room, which turned into a hospital admission. They found that he has a large mediastinal mass present (the size of a small football, it's 19 x 13 x 11). The mass is compressing his heart and trachea, causing deviation. His lungs are unable to fully expand. He had 800 ml of fluid removed from his left lung to assist breathing efforts. We are awaiting the pathology, but the doctors believe it's a lymphoma. They anticipate that he will start chemo after the pathology comes back confirming what they know: that he has cancer.
Prior to them starting chemo, they are talking with him about fertility. He is 24 years old and has one son. He has the desire to have more children. It's $110 to freeze his sperm. However, it's $1500 a year upfront to maintain and store his chance of having any more children.
I'm raising funds for my brother because at this time he is unable to work, medical expenses, and securing his opportunity to have future children. No donation is too small, but forever appreciated.
