My 4-year-old grandson Rufino started having unexpected seizures in February, and our lives changed overnight. He has been hospitalized at Riley’s Children’s Hospital ever since, and the doctors have determined there is not much more they can do for him at the moment. Our family is holding onto hope and praying for a miracle every day.

This situation has placed a tremendous emotional and financial burden on my daughter and her husband, as well as the rest of our family. The travel burden has affected all of us, as we try to be there for Rufino and support his parents. We are facing mounting travel expenses, bills, and the heartbreaking possibility of funeral costs if Rufino doesn’t make it. Every day brings new challenges, and it’s difficult to watch my daughter and her husband struggle to stay strong for their son while also worrying about how to pay for everything. Our family is doing everything we can to be together and support one another, but the costs are overwhelming.
