Hello community, my mom works at the Roxbury Safeway and is known for her kindness and dedication to her customers. She truly loves her job, and her connection with the people she serves is what keeps her going every day. Unfortunately, she recently suffered a work-related injury and will be undergoing hip replacement surgery. Despite her hard work, she was denied L&I, and now faces a challenging recovery period.
She will be out of work for at least three months, and as someone who lives alone, this has put her in a difficult financial situation. The bills don’t stop—rent, groceries, medical expenses, and basic necessities all add up quickly. As her 24-year-old daughter and a mom myself, I am doing everything I can to care for her during this time, but the costs are overwhelming. She will also need transportation to physical therapy appointments twice a week for at least 12 weeks after her surgery, which adds another layer of expense.
She is a hardworking mom fighting to get the life and health back that she deserves. She has 6 grandchildren, and her disability has been holding her back from spending time together, going on family outings, attending soccer games, and much more with her grandchildren. My mom also contributes to caring for my 90-year-old father. She cares for others deeply as if they are her own and she needs your support.
We are reaching out to our community for support. Any help you can provide will go directly toward her living expenses, medical bills, and the care she needs to recover. If you have any advice or resources for navigating injury or disability claims, that would also be incredibly helpful. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer—it means the world to us.
