My nephew Romeo and his family are facing one of the toughest challenges imaginable. Romeo, one of four brothers, has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Right now, he is being treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital, and the road ahead is filled with uncertainty. We don’t know how long Romeo will need to stay in the hospital or how his body will respond to the chemotherapy. As we wait and hope for good news, the reality is that life’s expenses don’t pause for cancer.

Elysia, Romeo’s mom, is unable to work from the hospital because her job is back home in Wichita, KS. This has put a tremendous financial strain on the family, as bills and daily expenses continue to add up. The funds raised through this campaign will help cover travel costs and living expenses, allowing Elysia to stay by Romeo’s side and focus on his care without the added worry of finances.
