When my family and I think of Rod, we think of love, faith, strength, and the best grandpa anyone could ask for. Rod is a faithful man and a strong believer in Christ, and he brings joy and wisdom to everyone around him. He’s caring, compassionate, always ready with a joke or a helping hand, and truly the best grandpa. We are truly blessed by him.

Rod was diagnosed with sinonasal carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Following his diagnosis, he spent two and a half months in Portland undergoing daily treatment.

Recently, our family received the difficult news that Rod has been given a prognosis of approximately one year to live. We have been told that there are fewer than 20 documented cases of this specific type of cancer worldwide, leaving very little research or data available regarding outcomes and treatment options.

Despite these challenges, Rod continues to face each day with incredible strength and determination. We remain grateful for the love, prayers, and support that have surrounded him throughout this journey.

Thanks to the generosity of our church and school family on Monday we will be traveling to Reno to visit a cancer treatment center where extensive testing will be done. His blood will be sent to Greece for specialized analysis, and the results are expected to take about three weeks. Once the testing is complete, the center will contact us with a personalized treatment plan. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance.

If we are told that this treatment could cure Rod’s cancer or significantly extend his life, we will need to raise approximately $21,000 for the treatment itself, along with funds for living expenses during the three-week stay in Reno.

Our immediate goal is to raise enough money by June 22 to get Rod to MD Anderson for a second opinion, which is in Houston, Texas. We have been told we will need to be there for about seven days while they complete the necessary testing and evaluations.

On July 14, Rod is scheduled to undergo a histotripsy procedure locally. This treatment has the potential to destroy the tumors on his liver, and we are praying for excellent results.
