For the past few months, Robert Tibbs, husband of Judy Tibbs, has been struggling with his health and trying to get some answers. In early December, Robert’s job required him to take a medical leave of absence so that he could go to the necessary doctors and get well. He had been struggling with mild narcolepsy, dizziness, shortness of breath, exhaustion, swelling/fluid retention, and low oxygen levels. He ended up seeing numerous specialists over the next few months including a cardiologist, cardiovascular surgeon, pulmonologist, and urologist. He was diagnosed with sleep apnea, asthma, and pulmonary hypertension. In his chest CT, the pulmonologist also noticed some fluid buildup around his left kidney and told him to go see a urologist. He had a colonoscopy mid-February and got good results from that. He also went through periods of severe pain and could not get warm. During this time, he exhausted his PTO and FMLA through his work and had to return to work in mid to late March while still dealing with all of the same symptoms and issues.
He was finally able to get in to see the urologist on April 3rd. The next day, Saturday, Robert went to work as usual. While he was at work, his urologist called Judy and told her that she needed to bring him to the ER immediately and he would meet them there. He said IV antibiotics were necessary as soon as possible and an immediate abdominal CT with contrast, and he would likely be admitted to the hospital for several days. That was Saturday, April 4th. Robert was in the hospital for 10 days. They have done several procedures and continue to need medical assistance at home. They put in a PICC line and sent him home on April 14th with IV antibiotics and the drain in his abscess.
We, the friends and family of Robert and Judy, are asking on behalf of the Tibbs family for any contribution or support that you are willing and able to provide to help with the numerous medical bills and expenses.
